What's new in 3D printing: affordable and quick-to-install housing

Mexico was the country selected, especially the city of Tabasco, which would see the first neighborhood with 3D housing erected, the company responsible for this project was the company New Story in conjunction with the companies Icon and Échale.

With all the challenges presented by the design and construction of the houses, the result obtained was satisfactory. The quality finishes, in the 46.5 square meters that make up each house, distributed in a single floor, composed of 2 bedrooms, an area that functions as a living-dining room, a bathroom and a kitchen, as well as a small porch.

While it is true, each house took approximately 24 hours to build its structure, then roofs, windows and doors were placed manually.

Now the construction company SQ4D using a technique by 3D printing everything, has managed to make a house in just 8 days, including the foundation.

Thanks to a gigantic 3D printer, designed for this purpose as it works with concrete instead of plastic, floors, walls and foundations were printed, which only took 48 hours to finish the job. To calculate the total time to build the house, it takes around 8 days in total, as well as being 30% less expensive compared to building a similar house using traditional methods.

Although the house was created as a demonstration, it is already for sale for a price of $299,000, including detached garage, the house will cover about 130 square meters, located in a location in Riverhead.

These alternatives could be an excellent investment, in addition to optimizing the time it takes builders to develop a standard residence.

Hopefully, they will be a more affordable option for many people.
